A Lemming, I Am

My sis and I were discussing V-man's "new meme" the other day, and we came to realize how much those early toons shaped us. All I had to do was mention "I like to singa...," and my sis finished off the song. We got to talking about our favorites, and it's damn near impossible to pin down any specific cartoon. Looney Tunes and Merry Melodies, in general, rocked. Especially the early ones... like Daffy, Bugs and the Dodo. As we were talking about it, my sister spouts off, "Please pass the ketchup, I think it's going to rain." We set to digging around until we found "Boobs in the Woods...." it was on a tape that had probably my favorite Daffy cartoon of all time. Heheheh... I still whistle or hum the song in the middle, and if it's around family, they'll finish it off with me.

It's below the fold, "The Daffy Doc."

What were some of your faves?

Great Cartoon. I'm surprised I've never seen it.

It just explains so much. Really. It's all much clearer to me now......

Boobs in the Woods is a latter-day cartoon (1950) directed by Robert McKimson...it's not the first cartoon in which Daffy sings "Please pass the ketchup, I think it's going to rain." That would be Porky's Duck Hunt, directed by Bob Clampett in 1937 - Daffy's first movie.

The Daffy Doc (1938) was originally a B&W film (this version is colorized). It's the original, totally demented version of Daffy. Frickin' hysterical. And two (count 'em) iron lung gags? Priceless.

Never saw this one, which surprises me, since I was a big WB afficianado as a lad.

I assume it was deleted from the rotation for the iron lung references, which sensitive children may have found "disturbing".

Elisson just leaves me in the dust with comments like that. I'm still on the hunt (no, not for wascally wabbits) for some good Bugs & Gossamer cartoons, and the one with Bugs, Marvin Martian and the Green Space Alien Birds.
