Snow Dudes

I ran across a story about a giant snowman wreaking havoc upon a neighborhood. Reminded me of some pics my ma sent a few weeks ago... one is of a snowman built in '71. We thought it was close to Gott's height at the time, but compared to the behemoth in Alaska, it was a midget. But impressive it was, and remains... we still talk about it.

Here, we have the Perfect One and I next to our very first snowman. This was in '70. Obviously, we had a bit of assistance, but we did get to do quite a bit by ourselves. We were so damn proud.

Here's the goliath... Pa had to use an endloader to get the head on him. The new kid in the pic is my sister, whom I call "Poop." I call her that just to be a pain, but doesn't it look like she be living up to the nickname?

Ah... good times. Good times. Now, thanks to Al Gore inventing global warming, I may never see another living snow folk. Ever.

Wow that is damn impressive. Even more impressive....

This is also a reminder that midwest, and Northern kids are badass when it comes to cold weather...

Oh holy cow, that's too cute!! Love the flowerpot hat on the short guy.

And the Goliath - Freekin' HUGE! Now-a-days you could probably sling your arm around his icy shoulders and offer him a cold one... Heh.

And to heck with our good buddy Al "the weathergod" Gore - just ask Jebus for more snow!

I'll bet He listens to *you*... ;-) (Though snow might freak out the Florida folk... Just sayin.')

That's pretty cool. And of course the neighbors comments are just great. Probably hates Christmas lights too, the asshat.

Reminds me of the igloo my daddy built when we were wee kids. Good times. Cute pics.

It's about time that people have begun to speak publicly of the ongoing snowperson genocide.

You guys were ambitious! You must have had a blast.

A few years ago when Chicago got hit by some big snow, one of the houses I drove by all the time, used a ladder as a framework and "built" a tyrannosaurus in their front yard. It was as tall as the house (one story) and since this was pre-global warming, it stood there for over a month before melting.

It always amazes me that people like to spend that much time out in the cold snow... but I must admit to enjoying the results when they build snow men and beasts. *grin*
