Should I Make Myself Sick?
Awww crap... I just found my mom's dark chocolate stash. Dark chocolate M&M's, Hershey's Special Dark... lots of it. I'm in hell.
Oh no, it's not that I don't like dark chocolate. I love the stuff. My hell comes from trying to decide if I should rid her of the chocolate, potentially saving her life, or leave it alone and possibly endanger her. See, she's diabetic. Mildly. And she doesn't hardly ever touch the stuff. But then again, she shouldn't be subject to the temptation... it just wouldn't be right.
I think I'll mull it over while chomping on another handful of M&M's...
Posted by That 1 Guy at January 21, 2006 01:21 PMYou're such a considerate son. That's wonderful that you are sacrificing yourself for her health.
Posted by: Sticks at January 21, 2006 03:14 PMI try my best... ;)
Posted by: That 1 Guy at January 21, 2006 03:28 PMWow, you are way more brave than me.
As a mom, I know how having your chocolate stash compromised can p*ss a gal off. Just make sure you hide the evidence and look sufficiently innocent...
Posted by: Richmond at January 21, 2006 03:54 PMahhh Richmond? Yeah, I'm thinkin' that whole "innocent look" might be what gives away the game. ;-)
Posted by: Tammi at January 21, 2006 04:32 PMShove it all in your mouth and advise her you saved her life, and that she doesn't need to thank you because that's just the kind of caring son you are!
Posted by: ktreva at January 21, 2006 06:03 PMI'm glad you are not my son. ;-)
Posted by: vw bug at January 21, 2006 06:06 PMDark Chocolate sucks, you should just throw it all away.
Posted by: Contagion at January 21, 2006 06:26 PMHeh, throw it my way, I'll save you both...
Posted by: Laughing Wolf at January 21, 2006 06:34 PMHell, I've never been a huge fan of dark chocolate. I'd rather have the white chocolate, which still aint as good to me a regular ol' chocolate.
My grandmama, is old. She's tough, but she's hen pecked by caring daughters. They mean well, and do well by her.
When I go down there, I always try to get some bannana pudding for her. She loves it. I don't overload her with it, but she gets a serving of it. I don't think her daughters, my aunts would approve, but what the fuck. Some things you just gotta have.
I'd say take the Santa Claus and the magic dust approach... A little bit for mom, a little bit for son, a little bit more for son, a little bit more for mom, a lot more for son, a little bit for mom...
Enjoy it together, while you can.
Yum - dark chocolate is very good. Especially over espresso beans, yummmmy! Hope your Mom doesn't mind sharing, or you could be in a heap of trouble ...
Posted by: Barb at January 22, 2006 01:43 PMYou need to find your mom some sugarfree (or "no carb") chocolates. My mom is also a diabetic and a chocoholic. She's shared some of the sugar free chocolates with me, and they're great.
Then you'll REALLY be considered a wonderful son.
