Updated: Characters

Do you read a lot of fiction? If so, do you have a favorite character? Who?

My answer later...

Like you, it's impossible for me to narrow it down to just one, so here's a few.

Lucas Davenport, from John Sandford's "Prey" series.

Ross Murdock, from Andre Norton's "Time Traders" series.

William Tell Sackett, and his (many times removed) uncle, Jubal, from Louis L'Amour's "Sackett" series.

Thanks for listing your favorites... now I've got some more books to check out.

He finds 'em, he kills 'em, he makes things disappear. Oh, and he's smokin' hot sexy too!!!

Yeah, he's my favorite...

Mitch Rapp, definetely Mitch Rapp :-)

I don't typically have serial characters so much as maybe one character in a book. Currently I LOVE Fermin Romero de Torres in Shadow of the Wind, my new favorite book,... unless the ending sucks.

I loved Owen Meanie in a Prayer for Owen Meanie as well.

Jack Reacher

Odd Thomas

Michael Corleone

Albus Dumbledore

Stephanie Plum

Some of my favorites are pre-listed for my convenience (Jack Reacher, Mitch Rapp, Odd Thomas, Stephanie Plum, Lucas Davenport) but I have to add Mike "Jenkins" (aka Ghost and the Kildar) from John Ringo's Kildar series. Like Mitch Rapp, he's never met a terrorist he hasn't killed....

Definitely Louis L'Amour characters. All of them...I would love to meet a man like those in his books.

Erik -- Phantom, by Susan Kay

I read this way back in 1995, mind you. I think I was emo before emo was emo. Or perhaps I was just a normal angsty teen.

Eddie Dean, from the Stephen King's Dark Tower books.

Snape, who's probably gonna get shafted in the last Potter book.

Joe Christmas, from Light in August.

Leonard Pine, from Joe Lansdales Collins&Pine novels.

And I'll second Elphaba, from Wicked.

Figured I'd finally post something here, Lucas Davenport & Tell Sackett are favorites of mine, too. I also like the Richard Jury character in the Martha Grimes books, along with the Cyril of course.

Anton from Sergi Lukyanenko's "Nightwatch" series.
Jocelin from Jacqueline Carey's "Kushiel" series.
Herzer Herrick from John Ringo's Council Wars books.

Alex Cross (right, it's Cross?), definitely Davenport, Kay Scarpetta (till she got all whiny), Eddie Dean Rocked, but I like the rock and roll star in The Stand, too.

No one ever picks Francisco d'Anconia :-(

Anyway, Repairman Jack - on occasion - does not suck.
