Rare

T1G: "Are there many 'gators in this area?"
Old Guy: "Nah... they ain't around here."
Other Old Guy: "Ain't true... I seen one ta other day. It was in that pond over by them new condos."
Old Guy: "You're on them goofy pills."
Other Old Guy: "I swear it..."
Old Guy (turning to me): "There might be some, but they don't generally hang in this area... too close to salt water. It's pretty damn rare."

Yeah. Right. Saw my first Florida 'gator coming back from Sun City. I don't know how big "big" is, but I'd say this was big. Damn near 10'. Big enough to make my skin crawl... and, of course, I thought of Jimbo. He loves'em.

"Rare" my ass.

Dude. Not so rare. Seriously.

I've seen 'em in my friends pool (not far from where you are) an 8 footer.

I've had them in the pond outside where I live - and I was close to the bay.

The orange groves? Yeah - they love those ditches.

Rare. No. Not so much.

But great photo ops!!!

Rare? He's yankin' your chain. I've had 'em in my yard. There's nothing rare about them anywhere. Stay out of fresh water and you'll be fine.

I didn't really buy the line about being too close to salt water... there were a couple that I saw in Lejeune, just off of Court House Bay. Hell, that's almost on the coast.

One of the Baton Rogue crews came in this morning. Said they couldn't get in their cellsite because there was a 12 foot Gator in front of the door....

They came to an agreement with him. They wouldn't work on the cellsite, and he wouldn't eat'em.

Good lord. It sounds like they'd like to take a piece of you! A rare one... Be careful out there.
